1) Select tags and click on new button

2) Give the tag name to Email ID Tracking tag

3) Click on tag configuration and choose tag type Google Analytics: Universal Analytics

4) Select track type Event

5) Give the Category name to Email ID Tracking tag

6) Give the action name to Clicked on {{Click Element}}

7) Give the label name to {{Click Text}}

8) Select Google Analytics Page-view as Variable

Now the tag has been created :

Next is to create a trigger for this tag :

1) Click on + Button to create a new trigger and name as Email ID Tracking trigger

2) Click on the pencil button and choose trigger type Just Links

3) Select on some link clicks

4) Select a Data layer variable “Click Element” contains mailto:example@gmail.com

5) Save the trigger & tag

6) Click on Preview Button

7) Refresh the page and in the bottom as you can see the tags has been fired & working fine.

8)  Once you confirmed the tag is working fine in the preview mode, You can Click on submit button
to publish the tag.

9) Finally confirm same in Google Analytics real time under event column for Event Category,
Event Action & Event Label.
